Herbal Anti-Aging Face Masks Help Tighten Sagging Skin

Written by Author on . Posted in Face Masks

The main aim of an anti-aging facial is to minimize the signs of aging. While there are many facial masks on the store shelves and home-made recipes available, not many contain 100% pure herbs and vitamins like Vivoderm’s Anti Aging Facial Mask. This face mask helps in fighting sagging skin and wrinkles by using the actual pulverized herbs, not extracts.

Customizing the Vivoderm Anti Aging Mask

As the skin ages and loses its elasticity and tone, the layers of the skin become thinner and the protective skin layer weakens and does not hold moisture the way it did when we were younger. There are different causes for skin aging that can include poor diet, dehydration, stress, and poor circulation. However, with a nutritious diet, a great skincare regime, lots of water and regular exercises you can manage to keep your skin in beautiful condition for years to come.

Before applying the Vivoderm face mask, the skin must be cleansed properly. Try Vivoderm’s super rich but gentle cream cleanser. Our herbal mask is custom-blended to your needs and comes with a convenient mixing bowl and scoop. Once you have blended the herbs to the consistency you like, apply the mask with a brush or your fingers to cover the entire face and decolletage area. If you have oily skin, keep it on for at least 15-20 minutes and then rinse clean with tepid water. For an addtional treat, after you have applied the mask put slices of cucumber or cool tea bags over your eyes then rest and relax. The tanic acids in the tea bags help reduce under eye puffiness and dark circles.

The Vivoderm Anti-Aging mask can be blended with almost anything to create a truly unique skin treatment like no other. One wonderful option to reduce age spots and soften skin even further can be made from 2 teaspoons of plain yogurt and ½ teaspoon honey. Mix honey, and yogurt first, then blend into the herbal mask mixture. Use this mixture on the face and leave it on for about 15 minutes and then rinse off.

Natural Facial Toners: An Integral Part of Daily Skincare Routine

Written by Author on . Posted in Fundamentals

Facial Toners or astringents help to remove the oil from the skin. Most are made from alcohol, water and other ingredients such as witch hazel, salicylic acid, and benzoyl peroxide. Many women have the wrong conception that it reduces the size of the skin pores. Facial toners actually get rid of the excess oil and take out the impurities that usually lead to breakouts and blemishes. Toners help in rejuvenating the skin by increasing the blood circulation and improving the skin tone. They also reduce the overall oil secretion and help prevent blackheads and whiteheads.

However, many dermatologists say that if you maintain a daily beauty routine and clean your face properly, then you may not need to use a toner. Some facial astringents may contain harsh ingredients such as alcohol, so you must look for products that are made from natural ingredients and more gentle to delicate skin. If your toner contains alcohol then you must know that it can lead to skin drying and possible flaking. So, when possible, choose alcohol-free brands that come with natural ingredients such as green tea extracts and grape seed. You can feel comfortable using these natural facial products daily because they are less abrasive. Toners with natural herbal astringents and minerals also help to purify the skin.

Tips: Do not abrasively rub it into your skin when using. If you have a delicate skin then you might use a toner mixed with rosewater or some other hydrosol. Make sure your face is completely cleansed before use. You can also choose to make your own little mix customized to your skin type. Try this one for normal skin: Blend two tablespoons of watermelon juice, one tablespoon of rosewater or witch hazel and two tablespoons of distilled water together and then dip the cotton ball into the mixture and then apply it on the face. Ahhh, refreshing!

There are some home-made remedies for blackheads which you can choose to follow. You can prepare a face pack by mixing fresh lemon juice, and boiled milk (1 glass) that removes blackheads. Another home-made face mask is a paste of fresh fenugreek leaves. You can apply on your face for 15 minutes every night. Next you just have to wash your face with warm water. You can also use a face scrub of green tea that loosens blackheads. Steam bath is an effective option as it helps to soften the pores and open it for easy removal.

What to Expect When Receiving a Facial

Written by Author on . Posted in Uncategorized

By: Van Le

Proper skincare goes beyond wearing sunscreen in the morning and taking off all your makeup at night.  Your skin is constantly exposed to internal and external elements, and needs extra help in order maintain a healthy glow.  Getting facials can be one way to revamp your skin while pampering yourself.

Along with pure relaxation, facials provide not only beauty benefits but also health benefits.  According to New Life Journal’s article, “A facial, it’s more than meets the eye” by Julie Pagano, “the major health benefits of regular facials are regulation of the immune system, detoxification, reduction in fluid build-up, exfoliation, and stress relief. These benefits are achieved in a facial that incorporates lymphatic drainage, exfoliation treatments, acupressure, and aromatherapy.”
The health benefits are just the icing on the cake.  What really lures us in is the relaxation and pampering we receive when getting a facial.

Never had a facial before?  Consider this Facial 101.

Plan to arrive at the location five to ten minutes before your appointment.  Most places will ask you to fill out a short questionnaire about your skin type and skincare habits.  This would also be the right time to let the aesthetician be aware of any allergies you may have.   The spa will provide you with a terry top so that it is easier to massage your neck and shoulders.  You will also be given a headband to keep your hair out of the way.

The aesthetician will clean your face of any leftover makeup and analyze your skin under a magnifying glass light.  Some will use a steam mist to open your pores.  Depending on the type of facial you are getting, he/she will massage a wide variety of different cleansers, exfoliating creams, and masks on your face.  Some creams and masks will be left on your face for several minutes, which can be a very blissful and relaxing experience.

Most places will also extract blackheads and pimples, which can be a bit painful but not overwhelming.  (If you are afraid it will hurt, you should take a pain reliever before arriving at the spa).  Afterward, the aesthetician will continue to apply masks and creams, as well as massaging your neck and shoulders.  At the end of the facial, he/she will give you a breakdown of the products used during the session, make recommendations for at-home practices, and answer any questions you may have.

Essentially, all facials are designed to cleanse the deep pockets in your pores, however, depending on your specific needs, there are several types of facials available, including anti-aging, aromatherapy, and acne facials.  The cost and length of time can vary from $50-$250 and 30-90 minutes.

For the period in between visits, check the site archives for several at-home remedies available to help rejuvenate your skin and keep it looking healthy.

Facials are meant to help you relax and a great way to help relieve the stress created from between the time you put on sunscreen in the morning and the time you take your makeup off at night.

The Benefits of Anti Aging Facial Masks

Written by Author on . Posted in Anti-Aging

Skin wrinkles are caused by two main factors: heredity and the environment. There is little you can do about heredity and the natural aging process, but there is something you can do about the other causes. Pollution in the environment, sun exposure and stress can all lead to premature aging of the skin. Using anti aging creams is beneficial for reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The creams are even more effective when combined with regular facials.

Facials counteract the effects of pollutants and sun exposure on your skin. Having regular facials will also help your skin absorb your anti aging creams better. Monthly facials improve elasticity, give your skin a smoother texture and improve the hydration of your skin. In addition, a facial will help remove dead skin which aids in the absorption of other creams or lotions used to combat wrinkles.

The products used for your facial will depend on your skin type. If you have dry skin, a moisturizing mask will be used to help add moisture to the skin. A rich moisturizer will also be used at the end of the treatment. Oil free products will be used for people with oily skin.

Facials can be done at home or by a professional in a salon or spa. Facial massage is very beneficial for wrinkles. The massage increases the blood circulation to the muscles of the face, which helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. There are over one hundred muscles in the face and massage helps to relax these muscles. This is particularly effective for wrinkles that result from muscle contractions, such as laugh lines and worry lines.

If you want to enjoy the benefits of facial massage, visit a salon for your facial. Facial massage is best done by a professional who is knowledgeable in massage techniques. An inexperienced person may actually cause more harm than good. When the muscles are not massaged properly, they sag which can cause wrinkles to be more prominent. The massage is also very relaxing. At some salons and spas, the arms, neck and shoulders are massaged as well. This is great for stress relief.

The basic facial procedure starts by examining the skin. This will help the professional assess the skin and determine the products that will be of the greatest benefit. Steam is then used to open the pores and remove impurities from the skin. A gentle cleanser is then used to clean the skin. This step is followed by a toner that is appropriate for your skin type. A facial mask is used to soothe and refresh the skin as well as to add moisture. At the end of the massage, a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin type will be applied.

Once you have had your facial, you will want to keep your skin in good condition at home. Use a gentle cleanser that is not drying in the morning and at night. Invest in good quality anti aging creams to minimize wrinkles and prevent new ones from forming. It’s important to choose creams that are good for your skin type and the condition of your skin. Read reviews to help you choose the best products for your skin.

Skin Care Myths (part2)

Written by Author on . Posted in Fundamentals

According to leading dermatologists, most of the cosmetic and skin care information out there is misleading. For example, do you buy into any of these common beauty myths?

Myth #4:

Pure soap is good for sensitive skin. Any product that vigorously suds and foams contain detergents, a strict no-no for dry skin. The best-known example is a certain soap, marketed with the buzz phrase “so pure it floats.” Advertising featured pictures of delicate babies and fair-skinned blonde-haired people, along with the recommendation that since it was “pure, and fragrance free,” it was designed “for sensitive skin.”

Toners you can make at home

APPLE SKIN TONER
Intended for slightly oily skins, we’re told by our skincare team that Apple Toner is an excellent substitute for rubbing alcohol (a real no-no, as it actually stimulates the oil glands to produce more oil).
Combine 2/3 cup witch hazel,
1/3 cup of apple cider vinegar,
and several drops of Lavender Essential Oil (or essential oil of your choice).

Do you know how to have beautiful skin?

Written by Author on . Posted in Uncategorized

In summary it’s not enough to get a facial to keep your skin clear and beautiful. You need to have a great home skin-care routine.

1. Get a professional facial to deep cleanse your skin at least four times a year, as the seasons change. Every 4-6 weeks is ideal.
2. Throw away the soap and use quality skin care products that are right for your skin type.
3. Wear sunscreen, even on cloudy days and in the winter. Use a good quality, high-SPF sunscreen. Sun damage is the single most important cause of premature aging.
4. Cut out skin-damaging habits like smoking, excessive drinking, and tanning booths.

Facial Masks for Your Skin Type

Written by Author on . Posted in Face Masks

Choose the Best Facial Mask for Your Skin
A weekly facial mask is a great way to boost your skins radiance and normalize oily or dry conditions. No matter what your skin type, there is a facial mask suited for you. Facial masks, when used once a week or twice a month for sensitive skin, can deep clean your face, tighten your pores, or brighten and exfoliate. Exercise caution though when shopping for a mask. Not every facial mask will suit your particular skin type. Several varieties are clay masks, moisturizing masks, fruit extract masks, yogurt masks, and gel masks, just to name a few. Before you buy a facial mask, you must recognize your skin type and buy accordingly.

Normal Skin

You have many mask options if your skin is normal. That is, if dryness or breakouts are of no real concern for you. You can use one that will give you radiance, one for deep cleaning or a gentle one for sensitive skin. Regardless of how “normal” your skin may be; you should see overall benefits of radiance and balance from using a weekly mask.
Oily or Combination Skin
Those with oily or combination skin do best with regular use of a clay mask. Clay is great for removing excess oil, deep cleaning your pores and preventing and clearing up blackheads. Natural clay is a great detoxifying treatment for your face without leaving your skin extra dry. Most clay masks work well with sensitive skin.

Dry Skin

Dry skin conditions require a mask for a very different reason than those with oily skin. You are not looking to reduce oil, but add moisture. Using a moisture mask will rejuvenate and rehydrate your skin. Many masks for dry skin require you leave them on longer than other masks for maximum effect. You leave the mask on your skin for up to 10 minute and then moisturize slightly with it before wiping off the excess. You will notice smoother, softer skin immediately.

Dull Skin

For a boost of radiance, try an exfoliating mask, but be careful to make sure the grain is not too coarse or you could cause skin tissue damage. You could try a peel off mask, which are actually kind of fun – like peeling off glue – this will help exfoliate your skin by removing the dead layers of cells, but again, be careful not to pull too harshly and tear tissue. Many exfoliating masks use fruit extracts such as papaya or pumpkin to naturally exfoliate. These tend to have a slight acidic range to them and may sting your skin just a little when you apply them. The scents are always quite pleasing though. You should see noticeable results within a few applications.

Mature Skin
To firm up wrinkled or sagging skin on the face and neck, look for moisturizing masks meant for dry skin or a specified “firming” mask. A firming mask will boost your skins moisture content, which will reduce fine lines caused by dehydration. This will give the appearance of a more youthful, firmer face. Massage onto your face and leave for about 10 minutes before you rinse off.
